Seek Permission
Seek Permission to send emails to people that you do not know
It’s illegal to send unsolicited emails to people, and even if it’s not illegal, you might end up wasting your time by sending emails to people who haven’t shown interest in your products/services. So you have to get people to permit you to send them email newsletters. This is what is known as email list building. There are offline and online techniques for list building:
The Offline List Building Methods are about getting the people that you meet physically, and talk to about your business to subscribe to your email list.
You could either ask them to subscribe to your email list so that you can share valuable information that can help them or their business to be better, or you can just ask for their email address.
Either way, they would have given you legal permission to contact them via email, and then you stand a better chance of getting them to open your emails because you can always give your first mail to them a subject title like “Hey, it’s the guy you met at Pizza Hut today.”
They would want to hear what you have to say because you are not some random stranger who just grabbed their email address from somewhere and decided to send them a mail.
The other way – to give something in exchange
You can also offer discounts and gifts in exchange for a subscription to your email newsletters.
You can use this method also in when you are working with online List Building: Now this is the most crucial part because online list building is usually more efficient than offline list building techniques.
