Use Storytelling
Use Storytelling
Recently, I read a book titled “The Email Infotainer.” It’s an old book, but I wonder why I never read it until recently because the book has hundreds of brilliant ideas for promoting any business.
The book talks about how quickly people get bored these days. If your marketing materials are just stating the facts and filled mostly with boring stuff, most people will get bored eventually,
But when you try to provide them with valuable information while entertaining them at the same time, you would keep them glued to you such that they would even start looking forward to hearing from you.
At times, when they don’t even hear from you, they would send you emails to ask if you are okay and that they miss you – that’s the power of storytelling.
Incorporate storytelling with marketing
You need to learn how to incorporate storytelling with marketing – don’t just churn out boring marketing materials – add stories that would captivate people.
The stories don’t always have to be exactly true – you are allowed to be as creative as you want but make sure you know how to sell products to them within your stories.
For instance, you could say something like “I remembered that this was the seventh time Puffy my pet cat was running away from home leaving us worried and scared. It was at this point that I decided that I needed a pet tracker. There’s no way I’m putting my family through the stress of searching for Puffy anymore.”
With this, you would have told a personal story (or a customer’s story) about how your product had benefited them, and you would also have been able to promote your product/service in an entertaining, not-so-obvious way.
